Today we are joined by educator and poet, Amina Abdulle. Abdulle shares her immigration journey, going from Somalia to Canada when she was just eight years. She explains how her painful school years inspired her to become an educator and ambassador.

Abdulle is a poet and a teacher who’s passionate about art and expression. Born in Somalia, she has been living in Canada since she was eight years old and is proud to call Windsor, Ontario home.

Abdulle taught high school level English and is now the Department Head of ESL at Kennedy Collegiate. She is also the co-founder of an equity based advocacy group as well as a member of various organizations within the city that focus on equity and justice. Abdulle sits on the board of two organizations and works to use her time and voice to support her community in whichever ways she can.
