WANTING VS. WILLING

The other day, my sister and I had this beautiful conversation about the difference between “Wanting” and “Willing.”

For years, I’d wanted to be a life coach, published writer and motivational speaker but I hadn’t taken any steps or made any efforts to manifest these desires. I had a huge WANT to have these things but I didn’t have the WILL to do them.

It’s the difference between enthusiasm and effort.

When you want something, you can dream it, say it and feel it but without actionable steps, it will never be more than lip service for the type of exceptional life you wish you had.

When we are WILLING, we make the sacrifices and put in the necessary effort. The “willing” is where the magic happens. It’s also where a lot of discomfort lies.

Being willing to do something you’ve never done means taking risks, getting uncomfortable and making concessions. Short term pain for long term gain.

It’s okay if you’re not willing to put in the work, but it begs the question, do you truly want what it is you say you want?

Go inward. Ask yourself, “Am I willing to do what needs to be done in order to get what I say I want?” If the answer is Yes, you’ll find the ways to make it happen and be relentless in your pursuit. If the answer is No, you will find excuses and procrastination moving forward.

When I first began, I wasn’t willing to put in the work to have what I wanted. Outcome: No business. No speaking engagements. No coaching.

I truly desired this reality, but until I committed to putting in the time and effort, it was never going to happen.

It’s important to be candid about what you’re willing to pursue. Get clear on your motivations and take action. No one is going to hand you your dreams.

Establish your focus, set a plan and take actionable steps towards your goals. The universe will align to help manifest your reality. You’ll connect with people, places and things that will assist your progress. The trick is to get clear on where you’re headed.

Most important, when you commit to your dreams, chase them with reckless abandon. There are days where the road will be rocky. You’ll want to give up, step back and throw in the towel. Those are the moments to reestablish your “Why.”

Why did you start? Why do you want this? Why was this important to create? Why is this worth pursuing?

You’re here for such brilliant, amazing and exceptional things. The world needs you and your gifts to show up authentically and wholeheartedly. Listen to your heart, get clear on what you’re willing to do and then move with love and enthusiasm in that direction.

You cannot fail if you never quit.

With Love and Light,

Chivonne
